Photograph caption dated December 26, 1959 reads, "Named Player of the Year - Reseda High School's dynamic quarterback Hal Bedsole was named city player-of-the-year by the Helms All-Southern California Board of Football for his outstanding performance in leading the Regents to the West Valley grid championship and then into the finals of the playoff for the City championship with Huntington Park. The six-foot, five-inch 215-pound back is considered one of the top prep footballers in the nation and is being sought by numerous colleges." Bedsole was selected for the 1959 Helms All-City football squad.
