Description
Photograph of the Foy residence on the northwest corner of Figueroa Street and Seventh Street, Los Angeles, ca.1918. The two-story house features several cant windows, a covered porch, walls constructed of shingled wood, and two chimneys jutting above the inclined roof. Short trees cover the yard surrounded by a picket fence. Branches of taller trees are visible in the background. "651", the house's street address, is displayed on a placard on a post in front of the house. "Miss Foy was the city librarian for many years." -- unknown author. In the first quarter of the 20th century, the Foy House was moved from the corner of 7th Street and Figueroa Street to 631 S. Witmer Street. However, it appears that there are varying accounts as to the date the house was moved. Different sources indicate that the house was moved in 1906, 1918 or in 1920.
