Description
1. Artist Forum before the second concert of Other Minds Festival 9, on March 6, 2003, 8:00pm. Charles Amirkhanian moderates a panel discussion with Chinese composer Ge Gan-ru, pianist Gloria Cheng, vocalist and composer Amy X Neuberg, and percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Ge Gan-ru recounts his musical development during the Chinese cultural revolution and the basis for his work "Four Studies on Peking Opera" which premiered that evening. Gloria Cheng talks about her exposure to the Peking opera style and what its like to perform Ge's music. Amy X Neuburg describes the core of her performance gear as well as her compositional and vocal styles. Evelyn Glennie comments on various aspects of a performer's "aural space" as well as sharing her impressions of the time spent at the Djerassi Artists residency before the festival. 2. First half of the second concert of Other Minds Festival 9, March 6, 2003. Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, in San Francisco, CA.
