Description
John Lovren's ranch on 12th Street, west of Beaumont. A resident of the community for 66 years, coming to Beaumont before there was a townsite and watching it through its names of Summit, San Gorgonio and Beaumont, Lovren was a peace officer for 56 years and a deputy in the forestry fire service for 33 years. Lovren was also a town marshall, city police chief, fire chief and constable. John N. Lovren came with his step-father, W. H. Hurley, in 1874 and assisted in operating a general store with the little Southern Pacific railroad junction. Constable Lovren and his step-father also spent a few years ranging cattle throughout the San Jacinto mountains. Lovren lived in this Beaumont Avenue for most of his life.
