Description
Silkwood, a "coal black pacer" was the most famous race horse in Orange County in the 1890s. Driven by owner Jacob Willits of Santa Ana, he set the Pacific Coast record in 1894, posting a 2:07 mile in his "steady, clock-like stride," as historian Jim Sleeper described it.
