Description
San Juan-by-the-Sea was an 1880s boom time townsite along the Santa Fe railroad. The depot there was built shortly after the rails reached the southern tip of Orange County in 1888. The tract died with the collapse of the boom, and by 1895 the townsite was all but deserted. The area was later known as Serra, then Capistrano Beach. Today it is a part of the City of Dana Point.
