Orville Dahl, left, who believed Thousand Oaks was the place for a four year college community, posed with Richard Pederson, center, and his two brothers, Peder and Lawrence, in this 1958 photo taken at what was to become the campus of California Lutheran College. At right, the three brothers' ranch as it looked before college buildings replaced crops.
