Exterior photograph of the Banning Municipal Band taken in the downtown band shell in Banning, California. Banning's early band. Picture taken in 1917. A shell was erected near the northeast corner of 1st and Livingstone and the community gathered for the weekly concert. The shell was later moved to the High School grounds on the east side of San Gorgonio between Nicolet and George Streets. Band members are: Edward Hemmerling, Reynold Hemmerling, Walter S. Hathaway, Newton Garner, John Morongo, Atholbert Ball (Band leader), Eugene Purpus, Joe Rodrequez, Harry P. Hunt, Teddy Nusbaum, Elmer Morris, Gyp Gay, Dick Sackman, Howard Osborn, Fred Ritter, Mark Martin, William Prouty, and F. M. Rhomberg.
