The store was built in 1939 and owned by the Martin family until the Embshoff's took over the store in 1952, calling it Hal's Date Shop. The view is looking east on Ramsey Street. The property to the east of Hal's Date Shop was the Owl Motel.The Embshoff's are well know for their family recipe of making horseradish.
