The Red Cross Chapter was very busy in Porterville, CA, during World War I, and made a great many bandages and other items to ease the plight of soldiers. Their office was in the upstairs of the Putnam Pioneer Store on Main Street in Porterville. (Photo courtesy of Porterville Library)
