Description
Exterior photograph of the South Fork Diversion structure used to deliver water from Whitewater River to the City of Banning and the Banning Heights Mutual Water Company. System was developed by C. O. Barker to provide water for agricultural and residential purposes through the Banning Water Canyon. A system of two water diversion structures and thousands of feet of flume were built in the early 1900s to provide water for Banning. At one time a system of tanks, penstocks and powerhouses generated power from the flume near an area known as Raywood Flats.
