Samuele Sebastiani and his wife, Elvira, purchased the Sonoma Mission vineyard (planted in 1825 for sacramental wines) in the early 1900s and founded Sebastiani Vineyards, one of the most prominent Sonoma Valley wineries in the early-mid 20th century.
