Description
A barbecue on the Marco Forster ranch, recognizing San Juan Precinct for having polled the highest Republican majority for President William McKinley in the recent election. The Orange County Republican Central Committee presented the people of San Juan Capistrano with a silk banner (shown at left) designating them "The Banner Republican Precinct of Orange County." Many prominent Santa Ana residents came down by train to make the presentation. Kneeling in front (left to right) are Robert Dibble, Harry Matthews, W.H. Marquis (?), William Wilhite, Henry Yount, Mit Phillips (who helped to organize the event), and E.S. Wallace. Standing behind Wallace is J.C. Joplin.
