Description
H. Burney Tharpe stands in front of a brick kiln ready to be fired, north of Visalia, CA. It took six to seven days of firing to burn bricks into their finished form. Six arches were used in which very hot fires were burned. Thorpe owned and operated the brick plant and also was a general contractor. (Photo courtesy of Maureen Anderson)
