Description: Full title:Walter T. Watanabe, rubber project foreman, examines two specimens of guayule, rubber-bearing desert shrub, in various stages of growth. In his left arm, Watanabe holds a matured 24-year-old shrub. In his right arm, Watanabe observes a two-year-old plant which is in bloom. The blooms will be used to cross pollination in experiments to improve the rubber content of guayule. Photographer: Stewart, Francis Manzanar, California.
