London publishing firms competed for buyers and audiences by displaying their latest stock of caricatural prints in their shop windows. [Rand, Snuffing Out Boney] As suggested by this print's inscription, publishers lent or rented select caricatures to subscribers for an evening or weekend's entertainment.
