Description
Full title:Mrs. Hasegawa teaches the Japanese language to students at the Quaker graduate school, Pendle Hill, Wallingford, Pa. Her husband, Mr. Hasegawa, does maintenance work around the school and occasionally kibitzes in the class room. They formerly lived in Los Angeles, California, where Mrs. Hasegawa taught the Japanese language in a private school. She is a graduate of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. The family was evacuated to Heart Mountain and went to Pennsylvania in January of 1944. Among her students is Miss Martha Kawata, a former Los Angelean who lived for a while at the Gila River Relocation Center and is training for nursery school work. Also in the class (foreground) is Jyuichi Sato, who lived at the Poston Relocation Center and is training at the school for research work in social science.
