Description
The character Little Boney, a miniaturized Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821), first appears in James Gillray's 1803 print, "John Bull offering little Boney Fair Play," published by Hannah Humphrey. [Rand, Snuffing Out Boney] Referring to John Ashton's "English Caricature and Satire on Napoleon I," E.B. Krumbhaar, Isaac Cruikshank's early cataloger, suggests Isaac Cruikshank likely etched this plate, assisted by his thirteen-year-old son, George.
