Full title:Kazumasa Frank Kitagawa, Issei from the Gila River Relocation Center, is harvesting tomatoes on the farm of Herman S. Heston, Newtown, Bucks County, Pa. Mr. Kitagawa is one of the five Issei who were obliged by neighbors' protests to leave another farm at Great Meadows, N.J., shortly after arriving there in April, 1944, from Gila River. A few days later the men were employed by Mr. Heston through the WRA relocation office in Philadelphia. Mr. Kitagawa operated a fruit stand in Los Angeles prior to evacuation in May, 1942. At Gila River he worked on the center farm. His wife and four children, Makoto, Kiroko, Sachiro, and Wataru, are still at Gila. Mr. Kitagawa is a graduate of Los Angeles High School and studied for three years at Stanford University. His present employer, Mr. Heston, speaks highly of the Issei.
