Description
A number of Cruikshank's most scathing images were of dandies: elegant and fashionably dressed, wealthy young men who lived a life of pleasure and decadence. [Helmreich, Life in London] In this print, a child retrieves a dandy's flowered handkerchief from the street, expecting but not receiving a tip. Catalogue Raisonne: Reid 2746; Douglas 1480; British Museum 13091
