Terminal Island, an artificial island in the Los Angeles Harbor and Long Beach Harbor, was the American base of the Japanese fishing industry until residents were forcefully arrested or evacuated between 1941 and 1942. Members of the Japanese community on Terminal Island load their belongings onto trucks as they evacuate the area.
