Description
"The central image of the piece is a woman cooking food anwearing an apron which reads "Mangán Tayón" which in Ilocano means "Let's Eat." fields of gold surround her and feature portraits and images of the artist's grandparents, faces, and as farmworkers working in the fields. They are depicted in sepia and skin color/flesh tones to indicate a feeling of the past in comparison to the central figure of the woman who is shown in more intense colors with warmer flesh tones to indicate the present. In the foreground are plates of food, spices, sauces, fruit and vegetables used in the preparation of the food which are all symbolic to the artist family community and culture."
