Description: Firsthand account describing the earthquake from Bauer's house on Vallejo St., sighting and progress of the fire, damage to the neighborhood, the family's escape to Oakland, and their return to San Francisco after approximately two weeks.
Mentions Bauer's father's business, Bauer Brothers and Company, as well as the reopening of businesses along Van Ness Ave.
Bauer was a San Francisco resident and a teenager at the time of the earthquake.
