Description
Letter from Colonel Kelly, Commander First Infantry of the National Guard, to Admiral Goodrich, USS Chicago, commending the actions of ten sailors from Mare Island and Goat Island bases during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.
The men were assigned to details charged with dynamiting buildings in an effort to halt the spread of the fire. Mentions specific locations in the city to which the men were assigned.
