Description
A postcard image of two men perched on the wagon seat high above the team of twelve horses needed to pull the weight of the oil tank. Note the extra wide rims of the wagon wheels presumably necessary to help carry the weight and to help prevent the wagon from getting stuck in the sandy soil. The tank holds 1200 gallons and would weigh approximately 9600 pounds. Early road constuction involved grading the road bed and then oiling it.
