The wedding party of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Thomas, in front of Billy Shannon's Villa, circa 1907. Joe, pictured in the light suit, was a middleweight fighter. Billy Shannon was a former amateur lightweight champion who later turned professional. He operated Billy Shannon's Villa, a saloon and training facility located on a triangular lot at the west end of Fourth Street, in San Rafael, California. He managed the combination restaurant-bar and training camp, which held a small ring featuring popular exhibition prizefights, from about 1906 to 1914.
