Description
Effie Easton and Garnet Holme during the rehearsal for the 1921 performance of As You Like It. Mrs. D. E. F. Easton was the Secretary Manager at the Mountain Theater and an integral member of the Mountain Play Association for 33 years. Mrs. Easton had a background in theater and worked closely with director, Garnet Holme. Holme helped found the Mountain Play and directed the Mountain Plays until 1926. The Mountain Play Association began its annual production in an outdoor amphitheater on top of Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, in 1913. Shows run for several weekends, beginning each May. This image is from a collection of scrapbooks, deposited with the California Room in 1975, by Mountain Play Association Director, Marion Hayes Cain.
