Description
Mountain Play Association, President, Marion Hayes Cain and set designer, Bill Carson, at the Mountain Theater, Mt. Tamalpais, 1970. Marion Hayes Cain was President of the Mountain Play Association from 1961-1969. In the early years, under the name Marion Brune, she acted in many of the Mountain Plays. In 1927 she fell in love with a fellow cast member, Sam Hayes, whom she later married. The Mountain Play Association began its annual production in an outdoor amphitheater on top of Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, in 1913. Shows run for several weekends, beginning each May. This image is from a collection of scrapbooks, deposited with the California Room in 1975, by Mountain Play Association Director, Marion Hayes Cain.
