Portrait of Richard Melrose, who moved to Anaheim in 1870, purchased the Anaheim Gazette in 1872 and published the newspaper until 1877; admitted to the California bar in 1877 and represented the Anaheim Union Water Company in disputes over water rights; served Anaheim as postmaster in 1884 and as City Attorney; in 1908 was elected to the California Assembly fro the 77th District; image shows Mr. Melrose seated, wearing a dark suit with vest, white shirt and dark tie.
