Description
May Festival Parade, Merrill's Ranch Market Float, Orange, California, 1940-1950. Image shows several women employees wearing bonnets and farm dresses riding in a horse-drawn wagon at the corner of Chapman Avenue and Orange Street. Reggie and wife Irene Merrill are sitting in the driver's seat. Signage on side of wagon reads "IF YER LOOKIN' FER STUFF TO EAT / MERRILL'S Ranch MARKET / JUSET CAIN'T BE BEAT!" Crowds are visible in background on the sidewalk and peering from windows of Elks Lodge building.
