Description
At the left of the photo, Motor No. 1 "Black Maria", probably on a Muir Woods shuttle or work train assignment, is drawing up one 4-wheel track car and pushing a primitive gravity car with back to back seating. In the center of the photo, Engine No. 5 with train of two open air passenger railroad cars, takes on water before resuming its push uphill at Mesa Station on Double Bow Knot on half way up Mount Tamalpais. The engine is emitting steam. The water tower may be seen in the background. Two railroad workers are sitting on Motor No. 1. Passengers may be seen on the train. One person is standing in the shrubbery in the foreground. The peak of Mount Tamalpais may be seen in the background.
