Description
This ticket, circa 1880, is made up of two parts. The lower portion of the ticket is for the ferry trip between San Francisco and Saucelito (later spelled Sausalito). From Saucelito, the upper portion of the ticket was used to take the rider to the west Marin town of Tomales. The North Pacific Coast Railroad carried redwood lumber, local dairy and agricultural products, express cars and passengers. It operated almost 93 miles of track which extended from the pier in Sausalito, northwest to Cazadero. In 1902 it was sold to the North Shore Railroad then in 1907 became part of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.
