Orange streetcar "Orange Dummy" in the southeast corner of Plaza Square, Orange, California, ca. 1890. Image shows view of the Campbell block with the steam-powered streetcar "Orange Dummy" (a railroad term for the street-locomotive), also known as the Peanut Roaster for its shrill whistle, which was built by the Tolle brothers who bought and operated the line and ran the streetcar beginning in 1896 from Orange to Santa Ana. To the right of it, at the intersection of Plaza Square and South Glassell Street is the Campbell Block, housing the EHLEN & GROTE CO., a general merchandise store. Dirt street visible in foreground.
