Accession number: P920 Full-length scultpure of Helena Modjeska, renowned Polish Shakespearean actress who came to live in Anaheim in 1876; sculpture is the oldest Public Works of Art project of its type in Orange County, sponsored by the State Emergency Relief Administration, the Anaheim Rotary Club, and the City of Anaheim; image shows view from right side of sculpture, created by Eugen Maier-Krieg in 1935, dedicated and installed in Pearson Park on September 15, 1935; Mme Modjeska is dressed in costume from her favorite role, Mary Queen of Scots; reverse side of sculpture, comprised of four vineyard workers representing the agricultural nature of the original Anaheim colony, partially visible to the right; palm trees and bench in Pearson Park visible in background.
