Description
Built in 1863, this covered bridge is located at Knight's Ferry in Stanislaus County. Originally at this site on the Stanislaus River, Dr. William Knight (for a fee) took people, their animals and wagons across the river on a ferry. In this photograph the low level of the river is probably due to the Don Pedro dam located further upriver which restricts water flow. The remains of a grist mill are visible to the right of the bridge.
