Description
Mss., signed. Luis Maria Peralta, Spanish soldier, was the recipient of the largest Spanish land grant, Rancho San Antonio. Item consists of two copies of a letter from Luis Maria Peralta granting Ygnacio Peralta title to the southern portion of Rancho San Antonio. In Spanish. Title added by cataloger. Place of writing at end: Pueblo San Jose. On back of Letter 1: "Original gift from Luis Peralta to Ygnacio Peralta: Exhibit 'A'". On back of Letter 2: "di mi padre papeles q/ me dejo". Paper watermarked: "C. C. Cini". Ink stain on upper left corner of Item 2. Gift to the Oakland Public Library from the Oakland Museum, 1962. Previously owned by Leslie Simson.
