Description
Color slide of a pack of cyclists racing towards an intersection during the Men's Cycling Road Race of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. The pack of cyclists are on the right side of the photograph. In the center of the photograph is a cylinder-shaped Olympic event post that is approximately 20 feet high. On the post is the Olympic symbol for cycling. Behind the cyclists is an undeveloped large hill; at the top of the hill are spectators. In the center of the cross-street are two "Mission Bell" style streetlights that are characteristic of Mission Viejo's Spanish influence in design. On the streetlights hang colorful banners. The riders are racing upon O'Neill Road; this street was later named Olympiad Road in commemoration of this Olympic event. The cross street is Alicia Parkway. A faint outline of Saddleback Mountain is visible on the horizon, behind the hill of spectators. At the top of the slide is a label with "84-008, Frame 018" typed on it. At the bottom of the slide is written "camjl 225" in pencil and, in typescript, "22, Jul84H14."
