Description
Frank Lloyd Wright emphasized his theory of organic architecture in his design of the Marin County Civic Center. The related groupings of long, horizontal buildings, which constitute the Civic Center, link with several rolling hills and stand as testament to Wright's philosophy. The principal architectural feature of the Administration Building, completed in 1962, is the 80-foot diameter dome, home to the Marin County Free Library, the Anne T. Kent California Room and the Board of Supervisors. The 172-foot slender gold spire houses a 45-foot radio and T.V. antenna. The Marin County Civic Center is a national and state designated historic landmark.
