Description
Lt. Commander W.H. Moore and Lt. Commander E.H. Barber at the Kent Estate, preparing for the pistol shoot. The Kentfield Pistol Shoot was conceived by Albert E. Kent (son of William Kent) in 1929 and was sponsored by the Kentfield Chamber of Commerce. It attracted teams from all over California including the San Francisco Traffic Police team, the California National Guard Artillery, and the Los Angeles Police Pistol team. When Albert Kent died in 1933, a perpetual "Abert Kent Memorial Trophy" was created for the event. After 1936, when the subdivision of the Kent property was beginning, the pistol shoot was moved to the Tamalpais Revolver Club in Santa Venetia, near San Rafael, California.
