Gardner Company, formed in 1900 by Henry Howard Gardner (b. March 6, 1875 at the family's home on South Glassell Street in Orange), manufactured cement pipes, bricks, and ditches and provided the cement foundation for the Orange Public Library's Carnegie building, constructed in 1905.
