Description
Color slide of a pack of women cyclists turning a corner during the Women's Cycling Road Race of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. The Cycling Road Race event took place in Mission Viejo, California. There are spectators in the immediate foreground of the photograph; the photograph was taken from behind them, so the backs of their heads and shoulders are visible. There is a motorcycle following the pack of riders with the driver on the front and what appears to be a photographer on the back. The fronts of four cars are also visible; the cars are on the racecourse at a moderate distance from the back of the pack. Above and slightly behind the cars is the "Finish/Arrivee" banner. The street from which the cyclists are turning is O'Neill Road, and it is lined with the national flags of various countries and has canopied grandstands on either side. O'Neill Road was later named Olympiad Road in commemoration of this Olympic event. The cyclists are turning onto Marguerite Parkway. In the background of the racing event are rolling undeveloped hills. At the top of the slide is a label with "84-007, Frame 049" typed on it. At the bottom of the slide is written "camjl 223" in pencil.
