Description
May Festival Parade, Orange, California, 1933. Image shows Orange Union High School entry with a marching unit of bathing beauties dressed in costumed 1903-era bathing attire. Crowds are visible in background along the sidewalks in the 100 block of North Glassell Street, with the Bank of America (102 North Glassell Street) at far left and Simon's Drug Store (106 North Glassell Street) in the center. The May Festival, which began in 1933 and also included the May Day Parade, continued to be held until 1991.
