Description
A boy poses for a photograph while atop his horse. Note that the stirrups of the saddle have been shortened for the boy's shorter legs. For an average adult the stirrups would hang closer to the bottom of the horse's belly. Bicycles were not yet common and would have been difficult to operate in the sandy soil. By foot, by horse, or by train, were the common forms of transportation in Turlock, California, circa 1905.
