Accession number: P63 One photograph is pencilled on reverse with "Capt. Ferguson owned hotel at this time?" Planters Hotel, the second hotel located at the northwest corner of Center Street (now Lincoln Ave.) and Los Angeles Street (now Anaheim Blvd.); built within six months after the previous Planters Hotel, originally constructed by John Fischer in 1865, burned down in 1871; the second structure was also lost to fire in 1890; image shows full view of hotel with stage coach, horse-drawn wagon, and several figures; also shows adjacent building with a barber shop (later sold to Willard A. Frantz in 1885) with sign above the barbershop doorway that reads "FRANK EY" and to the lower right a sign that reads "CIGARS."
