Description
On front of handbill: "Governor John P. St. John will lecture at Turn Verein Hall, Third Street, San Jose, Friday evening, October 14, 1887. Free to all. Subject, --- "Prohibition." Also a Meeting of the County Central Committee and San Jose Prohibition Club at 2 P.M. same day, at City Market Hall, cor. Market and El Dorado streets. All Temperance people are cordially invited to attend. Come one, Come all... A saloon can no more be run without using up boys than a flouring-mill without wheat, or a saw-mill without logs. The only question is, whose boys--your boys or mine--our boys or our neighbors?" On verso: Signatures of "James Ganney" and "Forrest S. Ward."
