Description
May Day Parade with Perkins Bakery float, Orange, California, May, 1949. Image shows float decorated as a wedding cake with Darlene Harms and Erich Vollmer dressed as bride and groom standing under archway. "PERKIN'S BAKERY" is written across end of float, which is going west on East Chapman Avenue towards the Plaza, passing in front of the Elks Building (221 East Chapman). Banners hang across the street. The Union Service Station is in the rear, at the right. The May Festival, which began in 1933 and also included the May Day Parade, continued to be held until 1991.
