Description
Photograph of the municipal gas and water works in the city of Santa Clara. The tank and building on the left were used for the storage and distribution of gas. In the center of the photograph an 80 foot tower supports four 45,000 gallon steel tanks used to store the town's water supply. The water was supplied by artesian wells and was moved by pumps in the building to the right of the tanks. The storage tanks were toppled and destroyed by the 1906 earthquake.
