Description
Horace "Mike" Koepke (later Albany Fire Chief) and Rich Courtney receive a citation from unidentified Berkeley Humane Society representative after their heroic rescue of Snoopy, the dog in Mike's arms, following a disastrous home fire on Peralta during the holidays of 1968. After carrying out three children, assisting a fourth child and the unconscious mother, they went back for Snoopy, who was unconscious under the bed. They gave him oxygen. "Nobody said much about the people we rescued," Mike said. Donated to the Albany Historical Society 2/12/85, by Albany Fire Department. Donation Date: January 1994. Donor: Albany Historical Society. Folder: Fire Department No. 16. AFD_016.TIF.
