Description
Color slide of a pack of women cyclists completing a lap during the Women's Cycling Road Race of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. One of the riders is a United States cyclist as indicated by her U.S. racing jersey. The racing jerseys of the U.S. cyclists are blue with white stars on them and a vertical white-red-white stripe in the middle. Behind the cyclists is a grandstand filled with spectators; part of that grandstand is covered by a canopy. There is a row of flags above the grandstand; they are not national flags, but solid ones of various colors. At the top of the photograph is the "Finish/Arrivee" banner with scaffolding above it. The cyclists are on O'Neill Road in Mission Viejo, California. O'Neill Road was later named Olympiad Road in commemoration of this Olympic event. Along one side of the slide is a label with "84-007, Frame 022" typed on it. Along the other side is written "camjl 222" in pencil and, in typescript, "23, Jul 84H9."
