Description
ELIZABETH ("BESSIE") DOUGHERTY. Symptomatic of the ills that plagued families living at that time, even ones as wealthy as Charles and Ida Dougherty, Bessie is another tragic example of one of Dublin's own cut down in the prime of life. Much beloved for her kind and giving heart, she also taught Sunday school to the children of St. Raymond's Church. A young woman of great beauty and faith, her death was a loss to the entire community. In honor of her memory, the Cronins, Nielsens, and Koopmanns named their hunting camp up in the Livermore hills "Camp Bessie" after her.
